The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children
complete their first checkup with an orthodontist by the age of
7. At this age, children typically have a mix of baby (primary)
and permanent teeth and examining them provides valuable
information. If an orthodontic issue is present or developing,
we can recommend the appropriate orthodontic treatment, when it
should begin, and how long it may take.
If your child is younger than 7 and you notice something
unusual, don’t wait until they turn 7 to see us. Regardless of
age, schedule a free orthodontic screening as soon as you notice
any issues.
If we determine your child isn’t ready for treatment, we will
continue to monitor their growth and development at no charge.
By age 12 most children have transitioned into their full set of
adult teeth, which coincides with the emergence of many
orthodontic issues. With jaw growth at its peak and children
becoming more self-conscious of their appearances, this age is
ideal for beginning orthodontic treatment.
During your child’s free initial exam, we will discuss the best
timing for treatment and all available options to address their
orthodontic issues. Getting started on the path to a more
beautiful, confident smile for your child is easier than you
might think!

plan, expected length of treatment, and estimated cost. Discover
